I almost didn't write this, because it's only a dress. But I wore it to a summer wedding and three separate people asked where it was from, and my niece took a photo of me and said I looked "expensive." So here we are.
For years the words "occasion dress" filled me with dread. Everything in the shops was either tight and unforgiving, frumpy and shapeless, or made of something that clung and left me boiling by the time the speeches started.
